Together Time & Alone Time

Today’s post is about amounts of togetherness. Most people like to feel ‘not alone’ at least sometimes but also like to be able to ‘be alone – by oneself’ at least sometimes.

Over the course of a life, there are those of us who get the balance right most of the time and others who cope with either too much or not enough alone time over the years.

One activity that people can enjoy to be on their own but still feel at least somewhat connected is reading.

Some of you already know that I write. Most of what I have written professionally does not have my name on it: I have no control over those and am not really involved with them much afterwards. Most of you also know that there are works of which I am the author. It is a real pleasure to find customers. I know that it is challenging: as someone who has been irritated by sales people but who has also spent happily and willingly on items I really wanted or needed, it can be strange to hawk one’s wares.

For nonfiction – if you have ever wondered about the meaning of life or how to tell right from wrong, or even how we have anything like knowledge at all, please actually buy http://www.amazon.com/Five-Big-Questions-Life-answer/dp/1617208647/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1354910525&sr=1-7&keywords=Five+Big+Questions+in+Life

More about the readers December 2013

Hi everyone. Today I’d like to thank you all for your patience as I learn how this thing works. There are some comments making it through the layers of filtration. Some filters are IP addresses and levels of computer hardware and cross-system networking that I don’t even know exist let alone understand, whereas other filters are ‘things’ such as subjective minds, personal defenses and occasionally generalized disbelief.

Sales of the books could use a boost, so please do spread the word. As I’m sure you understand, I do want to find those who are interested and will like them and can spend the money or have someone buy for them without any injuries and I would prefer that no one cries – not even me, from ‘the sales process’. Urban crime fiction or a nonfiction self help booklet that can also be used for intro to philosophy classes in English speaking schools and universities.

The wind here in the lower of the Saxonies is strong enough that there are weather warnings about it. I haven’t lived anyplace where that is ‘so true’ before. Hopefully it is not witchcraft from somewhere or a side effect of the pollution where the real ‘witchcraft’ was abusing the environment in our human lust for power. In some cases that does mean electricity. If the wind gets too intense they stop using the trains. This makes sense but has not come up much before in my life so I notice it a lot.

Wow, thanks! and links to ‘my books’.

Wow, one of you actually asked for information on how to buy the books. Thanks to your having bothered to comment, I can respond here.
Here: for the little self help booklet: http://www.amazon.com/Five-Big-Questions-Life-Answer/dp/1617208647/ref=sr_1_1/180-2903824-2848155?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1386095538&sr=1-1&keywords=Five+Big+Questions+in+Life

For the urban crime fiction novel…There is a rougher version you can get as a Kindle book through Amazon.com as An Adventure in Indianapolis. Also, for a much neater, more edited hard copy… Here is a website. http://sbpra.com/MiriamPia/

Please let me know what results you get. I want to make sure people get the book. I can also get you a PDF less edited version without a professional cover through Uranian Fiction.com.

I do worry over that novel because weir events have occurred with it in the past and I’m trying to avoid ripping anyone off or anything like that. If you place an order and do not receive the book within 2 weeks please let me know and we will work something out.

Is that just you? Have I been read or heard? Have you? 2013

So many people nowadays post information online at various locations. I read something somewhere about people giggling over comments they have written or posted. I think another lady wrote it.

Mainly, what I’m getting at is that in my own case I think some of that stems from the confusion about whether or not I’ve been read. Until or unless people send me feedback, determining whether or not anyone has read something I have written is almost as challenging as a form of divination. Was just that I thought about something that I wrote, or was it that one person read it and gave it a little bit of thought, or tens or even hundreds of people read it and all gave it a moment of thought?

Being a writer by trade, much as I strove to have a day job in a different field – I tried to become a woman working as a philosophy teacher at a university somewhere, and even tried convenient store management as another alternative…as a writer getting read and having people willingly buy stuff I wrote and reading it and really really liking it ….Liking it the way people love a good read or a great movie…is the other half of the reality of writing…Reading.

Have you ever read me? At the moment, there are an unspecified number of people who have, but do not know it was me, because there is no byline – ghostwritten. Do I look like a ghost to you? There is also a little bit of work I have actually authored: wouldn’t that be nice? To have what I have authored bought, and sold and me getting paid and readers loving it and liking it and some people even respecting me or even some fans.

I encourage, or even implore you to check out the following links: http://sbpra.com/MiriamPia/ is for a novel. About that philosophy teacher thing: http://www.amazon.com/Five-Big-Questions-Life-Answer/dp/1617208647/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1381520676&sr=1-1&keywords=Five+Big+Questions+in+Life How about a practical mini course at your own leisure?

Books for readers – nonfiction, fiction, how to make your purchase

As the weather begins the transformation to Autumn, here are the links to the main locations to find my published works and tidbits.

http://uranianfiction.com/ This is a general location. For some reason I have believed that it makes sense to unify all of my fiction, regardless of the genre by calling it Uranian Fiction. Some people would rather just know it by my name and I can see why. It isn’t wrong if you do that, but just as you are not your car, myself and my literary work are not exactly the same thing.

There is some nonfiction stuck with the fiction right now, mainly for reasons akin to lack of space to separate them.

http://sbpra.com/MiriamPia/ This is thee location to purchase a hard bound copy of The Double Life of Tutweiler Buckhead. How is a corporate manager also a criminal mastermind? Why is he being hunted down by two occultists?! Pre-order yours today.

http://www.amazon.com/Five-Big-Questions-Life-answer/dp/1617208647/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1379006004&sr=1-1&keywords=Five+Big+Questions+in+Life Well, this isn’t even fiction. For a very practical explanation of philosophy and how you can use it right now in your real life – try out this little booklet. Delightfully softbound you can roll it up – designed to be readable while doing your laundry, waiting for a train after work, or as a coffee table book for your gifted teen.

Response to a comment as a post 2013

I drop a comment whenever I appreciate a article
on a site or if I have something to add to the conversation.

Usually it’s a result of the passion displayed in the post I browsed. And on this article Five Big Questions in Life | Miriamspia’s Blog.
I was actually moved enough to drop a comment ;) I do have a few questions for you
if it’s allright. Could it be only me or does it look like like some of the comments look like left by brain dead individuals? :-P And, if you are posting on other online social sites, I would like to keep up with you. Would you make a list every one of your community pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?

Hm, I like this show of interest. No one has asked me for more information this way before and so I am not sure how to deal with it. I find it a little scary but, being easily frightened hope the fear is mainly paranoic – from watching too many movies where there are monsters in the closets etc..

http://www.linkedin.com/pub/miriam-pia/9/884/7a7 and http://uranianfiction.com/ and http://sbpra.com/MiriamPia/

are all great places to connect with ‘me and my work’. There are books you can buy, including the urban commercial fiction with built in magical realism: pre-order your hard cover today!

Vacation in the beautiful German countryside, and read an English book

Well, around here there are a few people who put together vacation locations. That means there is the odd hotel, guest house, …they have these places called ‘Feierhaus’ here which I think means the same as what I am about to show you.

Photos and Description of the Verden vacation farmhouse rental

New apartment with balcony, 4 -. 5 people, large garden, free bikes

The in June 2011 asked NEW finished apartment is on the first floor of the farmhouse. It is accessable via an outside staircase with shared balcony. A new, fully-equipped kitchen with a cozy living area, a nice bathroom, a double bedroom and a bedroom (with double bed) in the loft part of the apartment. The large garden play areas are like a sandbox, swings and a playhouse for children. Happy children can get to play the hare. The apartment has one terrace with ample garden furniture, two sun loungers and a barbecue. Car – parking spaces are available. We have a sideline farming with animals such as pigs, turkeys, ducks, geese, chickens, guinea fowl and rabbits. These animals are all kept on pastures and just sleep in the barn. In the yard there is a small but successful farm shop selling our own products, such as meat and meat products from our animals, as well as liqueurs, brandies, Secco, wines, spices, vinegar and oils, pasta flour, etc. (Our guests get 10% on the range, but are no

While vacationing in Germany from an English speaking country, luxuriating in some ‘down time’ out of the rat race, you may want something to read. For those of you who have Kindle ebook reading machines, and a taste for urban fiction – http://www.amazon.com/An-Adventure-in-Indianapolis-ebook/dp/B001F0QG7U.

If anyone over age 14 years really wants to have a good think about life, while on vacation, I highly recommend: http://www.amazon.com/Five-Big-Questions-Life-answer/dp/1617208647/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1361353477&sr=1-1&keywords=Five+Big+Questions+in+Life

What is Versicherung? and Is there a God?

First of all, let’s admit that the real reason Versicherung has come up is that I am an American woman in Germany. I saw that word for well over a year before finding out what it means in the language with which I am much more familiar.

Just to give you the idea: this long word with 4 syllables that breaks nearly all English word regulations for normalcy is painted onto buildings that look like they do business. I kept noticing it. Naturally, the local people gave the impression they felt it was normal. Given how many of them are Germans and this is their country and their language, that isn’t all that astonishing. That didn’t make me that comfortable with it, at least not at first.

Believe it or not, Versicherung just means insurance. That’s all it is. I know it looks more like some Bugaboo or bedroom closet darkness monster, but it isn’t. It is just a weird way of saying insurance. Imagine what it must be like to be them and to find out that the freaky alien noise insurance just means versicherung. Well, that’s cross cultural drama.

About: Is there a God? In truth, this question is directly addressed in the first chapter of a short introductory philosophy book called Five Big Questions in Life and how to answer them. I did write it. What qualified me? 5 years of formal philosophical study along with years of contemplation and like so many Americans, decades of spiritual practice as part of ‘having a religion’. All of that put together with writing ability led to this practical yet surprisingly complete short guidebook through some of life’s deepest and most challenging questions. You can buy it here: http://www.amazon.com/Five-Big-Questions-Life-answer/dp/1617208647/ref=sr_1_12?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1358978603&sr=1-12&keywords=Five+Big+Questions+in+Life

Review of Available material

When you are in the market for something to read, I want to know. Admittedly, I want to know because I want to know if my work is a match for your needs.

Contemporary fiction novels: urban, mysterious, uses a group – you can decide which one you feel is the lead, of good guys. You may conclude that the attorney is the lead because he arranges the meetings. How about right about 300 pages? There are a few ways that you can get it. If you are the type of person who loves ‘bootlegs’ and ‘independent’ or ‘small time’ artists, then you can check out the messy but real wild Cafe Press version of An Adventure in Indianapolis.

http://www.cafepress.com/uranianfiction.354288344

If you need more order but are not a neat freak – so to speak, and have a Kindle then the ebook you can get through Amazon.com or directly through your Kindle might suit you.

http://www.amazon.com/An-Adventure-in-Indianapolis-ebook/dp/B001F0QG7U

If you strongly prefer nice tidy books, then the thing to do is contact Alethia Publishing and pre-order it so they will send you one ‘hot off the presses’ so to speak. That’s sales@alethia.in.co

If fiction rubs you the wrong way and you feel ‘practical is better’ then I strongly suggest you go ahead and buy Five Big Questions in Life and how to answer them. It is short, dense with important information and tackles intense questions such as ‘Is there a God?’ and ‘Are right and wrong eternal or only relative?”.

A Little Ramble with a Writer

Most of you are aware that this is the blog of a writer. Is that all there is to me? I hope to God/ess not!! Philosophy is a specialty as is fiction writing. In reality, sometimes I also paint. The painting has not earned me money. Writing and philosophy have earned me more than being a part time gardener for wealthy clients in Indianapolis, thanks to Ye Olde Greene Thumb and Paula Baumgartner …It took a while, but now the truth is that I have earned more writing than gardening professionally but have still earned more gardening than teaching philosophy or selling books of philosophy I have actually authored. Tremendous insights can be gained from many types of work if one takes a certain attitude towards the efforts. Paula and a number of the other women on the crew in 2002 also write and edit professionally in English. Strange, perhaps, but the truth. Others would just laugh and think ‘Of course the poor writer needs an additional source of income’ – ha ha, how funny to imagine otherwise…We have heard that JK Rowling has been such a poor writer and single Mum as to have been reduced to living out of her car and went on to achieve billionaire status by delighting generations with the Harry Potter stories…and during the past decade has been so rich she gave loads of money away to help others and she is still rich even though she did. Wow.

Hopefully, in 2013 I will have enough luck that I am able to do some author’s talks and book signings and sell some copies of the humble philosophy starter book Five Big Questions in Life and how to answer them. If you are intrigued and curious about philosophy but put off by tomes of knowledge this book is for you. Also, if you have entered college freshman philosophy and could use some supplemental help, this book is also for you. You can get yours now, right here:
