2014 The first day of the rest of our lives 2014

Today is the first day of the New Year and the first day of the rest of our lives. How is yours going? Is today still exciting for you? Is the future full of hope or fear or neither? Are you where you want to be with your life or not? Are you able to be content and still strive or are you terrible to yourself if you strive because you don’t try to change or to improve unless you are nasty to yourself? Do you have any resolutions this year?

Perhaps in 2014 people will start commenting so much below the post that there will be more discussion – not only will I have more to read and to learn about you all as a group but you will also find out more about one another. I know that can be scary or what is desired.

For me, some of what has happened today is as I would hope and some of it has not gone well. Most days I make a number of attempts – you do to, in your own lives. Some of it works and the attempts lead to success rather than to failure and other times one is forced to ask: will I try again in an effort to succeed or will this not work?

Cross culturally: I spoke and thought and watched movies in English which is my native language. Me and my son chatted with our broad American accents here in Germany where he is a citizen and I am a resident. Outside it still looks like a charming brick village. Now in truth there is an all wooden barn and 3 wooden houses in the village and a few done in plaster. It is not that everything is done in brick but the general ambiance of Germany is brick whereas the USA is generally wood.
