Kiel was happy about one thing.  He was happy that where he had been arrested and taken to Court he was allowed to transmute his sentence from serving time in prison, into serving the Earth’s military as a free soldier.  He did not really believe soldiers were really ‘free’ but compared to being a prisoner, he could see how military service could be called ‘freedom’.  He had previous experience with both prison and the military.  He felt able to make a good decision.  At the time of the sentencing there was no military front making it more prudent to spend a few years behind bars.  So, being of sound mind and body, he picked the military service.
